Hello there stranger,
Welcome to the 'Niu' Year of 2009.
All these years have been in local to celebrate the crossing over to the year but this time round I was out of the country and was in China during the crossing over to the year 2009.
Going over to China was supposedly to be a very happy event for me as I have been waiting for this time ever since the start of 2008. But having gone to China, I felt within me a seed of sadness been planted and sprouting. Things have happened while the stay over there. I was happy at first having to meet up with the person who is the local there. Great hospitality to the extend that I feel very uneasy.
Upon arrival at Pudong Airport, we went to take the long distance bus to Hang Zhou, which is the destination for my trip. After settling down at the hotel, went for a dinner at one of the relatives place and I think the first impression that I gave them was that I was not much of a drinker nor a speaker. I feel very uneasy, as the dialect which they are speaking is foreign to me and that they can speak of any topic.
This event of meeting ppl for meals carried on throughout the whole period of time while i was there except for the last 2 days. Where I walk around on my own and eating meals as and when I feel appropriate. This is something that I feel easy about. Having company for meals are ok but for the people in China I think if they were to sit down and have a meal with me they will regret it and will boycott me from inviting to a meal. The reason is that I cannot drink/smoke nor speak. These 3 things are the most common things that one will face in China.
China citizens also honor the 5Cs as that of Singapore, which are Cash/Condo/Career/Car/Card. In China, for guys the parents will make the downpayment for the flat for them while the monthly installment will be settled by the Son. Only then will they be able to get a wife. Another thing is that the position you hold in the company or the salary that you are currently earning. The real estate price in China is so scary that you really need to have a high paying salary in order to support the family or the housing loan.
Thats why we can see that China people are able to spend on things so often without hesitation.
What lies in the future? It is unknown, but if you were to work hard and pave out your path then the future will be known.
Present is current. The current status issit satisfying to you? what can be done to make it a better one for a better tomorrow?
Past is over. Do not dwel in that but look forward.
Having said the above is very contradicting as I never did those things.
But for the 2009 new year resolution, those things will be the one that I will strive to do.
Do take care.
The Tough Get Going.
